Paramount Wipes “Infringing” Ubuntu Torrent From Google

Fail: Anti-Piracy Outfits Ship Takedown Request For Non-Existent Torrents

HBO, Paramount Pictures and other copyright holders are sending takedown notices for torrent links that have never existed. The notices accuse sites of distributing recent movies and TV-shows. However, the services in question have been down for a year, showing that anti-piracy groups automatically generate links based on hashes without any verification.

Warner Bros Targets In style Streaming Subreddit

In a fresh takedown notice Hollywood movie studio Warner Bros. is targeting the BestOfStreamingVideo subreddit, a community dedicated to sharing links to pirated streams of movies and TV-shows. Thus far this hasn’t had any effect, however, and according to one of the moderators, Warner Bros. should focus its efforts on building a better legal movie platform instead.

Sony Footage Tries to Censor Wikileaks With Doubtful DMCA Discover

Daniel Yankelevits, one of the top legal executives at Sony Pictures Entertainment, has asked Google to remove a leaked email published by Wikileaks after the 2014 hack. The top executive used a copyright takedown notice to bury an email which exposes his personal salary, claiming “it’s not right.”
